HARRISBURG – David W. Sweet, Vice Chairman of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), today issued the following statement regarding a joint motion he offered today during PUC consideration of an application from Sprint Communications L.P. (Sprint), seeking approval of a merger transaction that will result in Sprint’s indirect transfer of control to T-Mobile USA Inc.:

“We sought specific, concrete commitments on the belief that what was offered in the adopted motion was vague and unenforceable, and we wanted to ensure that the promised public benefits of employment and rural broadband deployment where it was needed most would occur in Pennsylvania.”
