The Wayne Highlands Education Association has named the Michael J. Bryant Memorial Fund as the recipient of its Community Outreach Program award for March 2019, announced President Gretchen Israel. A check for $1000 was awarded by WHEA to the Wayne County Community Foundation, which oversees the fund.

To date, the Michael J. Bryant Memorial Fund has distributed nearly $20,000 to local individuals and organizations with a mission of supporting those with physical or developmental needs. The fund further assists individuals with special or developmental needs in Wayne County in acquiring goods and/or services that help these individuals maximize their potential.

The Wayne County Community Foundation seeks to award grants from the Michael J. Bryant Memorial Fund for numerous specific needs, including (but not limited to) summer camp tuition for those with physical or developmental needs, specific therapy needs, expenses incurred in association with Special Olympics participation, classroom supplies for those with physical or developmental needs, expenses incurred in association with 4-H participation for those with physical or developmental needs, and expenses incurred in association with the costs of independent living for a person with physical or developmental needs.

Since its establishment in 2008, the Michael J. Bryant Memorial Fund has continued its valuable mission in our community through contributions from family, friends, and the Herd the Curd 5K and 10K run/walk proceeds.

WHEA is proud to support the Michael J. Bryant Memorial Fund and of all the fund does for and in our community. We are proud to take part in helping the Wayne County Community Foundation in working to realize the fund’s high goal.
