HAWLEY, Pa. –  The Hawley Public Library announced that it has created a new “Friends of the Library” committee that will support its mission of literacy, technology, and programs guided by the needs of Wayne and Pike County residents. The volunteer-based committee is welcoming new members who wish to work toward the enrichment of the library services, and to support the total library program. The Friends committee meets monthly with the next meeting taking place on April 24 at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hawley Library, 103 Main Ave., Hawley, Pa. Future meeting dates will be posted on the Library’s website at http://www.waynelibraries.org/hawley/hawley/.

The Hawley Library’s Board of Directors will work closely with the Friends of the Library committee along with leadership from the Library’s Director, Deborah Corcoran.

“The Hawley Public Library plays an essential role in our community serving the needs of citizens of all ages,” said Corcoran. “An active community offers the most value to the library and its members and the need for their support is vital to keep the Hawley Public Library strong and well-funded.”

Anyone interested in becoming a Friend, or would like to hear what it’s all about, is invited to attend. For more information, contact the Hawley Library at 570-226-4620 or email hawleyref@waynelibraries.org.
