Carrie Demers is a holistic physician who blends modern medicine with traditional approaches to health. Her integrative medical approach, which she has practiced for 25 years, was inspired by Dr. Patch Adams who founded the Gesundheit Institute.

Carrie grew up in Cincinnati, attended Vanderbilt University, and received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. She was interested in the humanistic aspects of medicine and sought to find a way to practice medicine in a holistic way. After earning her medical degree and becoming board-certified in Internal Medicine, she went on to study massage, homeopathy, yoga, meditation, nutrition, herbal medicine, and Ayurveda. She is also board-certified in Integrative Medicine. She addresses lifestyle, stress and diet, and uses all these modalities to support patients’ inherent ability to heal.

Carrie sees patients, runs weekend wellness retreats, writes articles and blog posts, and lectures nationally on Integrative medicine and Ayurveda.  She has been the Medical Director of PureRejuv Wellness Center at the Himalayan Institute for the last 23 years.

Join us on Thursday, April 25th at 5:50 pm at Hawley Public Library to hear how Carrie strives to help people feel empowered to heal by exploring options in addition to traditional medicine.

The program is free and light refreshments will be served. For information, call the library at 570.226.4620.
