On Friday, February 8, WHSD celebrated their 100th day of school. Mrs. Pittenger's kindergarten class worked hard to collect 100 cans of cat and dog food to donate the Dessin Animal Shelter in Honesdale.

They ended up collecting 170 cans in all! PA Humane Society officer, Marlene Metzger, and her doberman, Ransom, visited their classroom to meet the kindergarteners and collect their donations. Mrs. Metzger talked with Mrs. Pittenger's class and explained how animal shelters work, what jobs are found at the shelter, and the appropriate way to pet a strange dog.

The students were very excited to share their donations and even more excited to have a four-legged visitor in their classroom!
