The ARC of Wayne County held its annual St. Patrick's Day dance over the weekend and once again it was a blast to attend.

Everyone was decked out in green, from T-shirts to beaded necklaces, hats and even funky glasses.

Even the food was made for the occasion with green frosting, sprinkles and more. If you wanted relish on your hot dog that was even green!

I think the only time there wasn't anyone on the dance floor was when they were announcing names for prizes.

The DJ had everyone dancing all afternoon. If you took a break for a couple songs, someone was dragging you back onto the dance floor.

I would know because that's exactly what happened to me for the few times I actually did sit down.

At one point the DJ was playing the chicken dance and a group of kids simply formed their own circle and were doing the dance together.

It was really neat to watch.

When it was time for the limbo all bets were off. There were so many ways the kids would go under the limbo pole and some were pretty impressive.

I always enjoy going to the dances the ARC puts on. There's never a dull moment.

If you didn't know already, the ARC runs Dyberry Day Camp, which is the recipient of this year's Bowling for Autism.

I am very honored to support Dyberry. They are an excellent program for individuals with mental and physical disabilities.

Campers get to enjoy a wide variety of activities each July and they keep coming back for more. Sean also benefitted from the camp for a few years.

Seeing the joy and laughter on participants' faces as they socialize with each other at events such as the ARC dances reminds me of the mission of Bowling for Autism.

Come out and support Dyberry Day Camp and the ARC on Saturday, April 9 from noon-5 p.m. and help them continue providing services to individuals with disabilities.
