SCRANTON - America's Navy is coming to Scranton, one of three cities to host a performance by Navy Band Northeast during its March 2015 tour.
Navy Band Northeast’s pops ensemble concert is scheduled for March 13 at 7 p.m. at the theater at Lackawanna College 501 Vine St., Scranton.
In addition, the marching band will perform in the Scranton St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 11 a.m. on March 14. Other locations on the tour include Rocky Point, NY and New York, NY.
Navy Band Northeast’s Pops Ensemble is a concert band that performs a wide variety of musical styles including traditional band literature, popular standards and patriotic favorites.
Whether performing for an outdoor summer concert series or a holiday concert in December, the pops ensemble provides musical entertainment for audiences of all ages.
Navy Band Northeast's marching band performs primarily patriotic music and marches while representing the United States Navy in parades and military and community outreach events throughout the Northeast.
Navy Band Northeast ensembles perform over 500 engagements annually, personifying the quality and professionalism of today's Navy and instilling pride and patriotism during each and every performance.
One of Navy Band Northeast’s primary responsibilities involves touring their 11 state area of responsibility.
Many of the band’s performing units embark each year on concert tours throughout the northeast, allowing the band to reach out to audiences in areas that do not have opportunities to see the Navy's musical ensembles on a regular basis.
The concerts are family-friendly events, meant to be entertaining to veterans, families, individuals and those interested in joining the Navy.
All Navy Band Northeast performances are free and open to the public.
