Starting tomorrow, October 1st, the Wallenpaupack Area School District (WASD) will resume in-school walking programs at Wallenpaupack Area High School in Hawley and Wallenpaupack South in Newfoundland. The programs were closed September 22nd in the wake of the Pike County shooting of a Pennsylvania State trooper. The killer is still at large.

            The walking program, a partnership with Wayne Memorial Hospital, includes the following schools:

Damascus Elementary School, Damascus Lakeside Elementary, Honesdale Preston Elementary, Lakewood Western Wayne Middle/High School, Lake Ariel EverGreen Elementary School, Lake Ariel RD Wilson Elementary, Waymart Forest City Regional School, Forest City Wallenpaupack Area High School, Hawley Wallenpaupack South, New Foundland             All walkers who use the schools between 6pm and 8pm must be registered with Wayne MemorialHospital. Registrants may use any of the schools. There is a one-time $5 fee for the identification badge.
