Interstate 80

Short Term Projects:

I-80-West-Luzerne County-Exit 273 (White Haven) to Exit 262 (Mt Top)-Pothole Patching-Monday 9/22/14 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Long Term Projects:

I-80 - Columbia County - Exit 241 to Exit 242, Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained on I-80 for the majority of the project, with short-term lane restrictions and generally short-term ramp closures. The I-80 WB on-ramp at Mifflinville (Exit 242) will remain closed through the majority of the 2014 construction season. Anticipated completion - 2015.

Interstate 81

Short Term Projects:

Exit 191B: The ramp from Interstate 81 South to Exit 191B (Scranton Expressway) is now closed and will remain closed for the next three weeks. The single lane pattern on Interstate 81 South was moved to the center lane last night, and work is taking place on the right lane of I-81 South at the 191B exit. As the work is being completed, the off-ramp cannot be accessed. While the ramp is closed, it will also be repaved.

I-81 Crack Sealing: PennDOT crews will commence with a crack sealing operation on Tuesday 09/23/2014 and will continue on Wednesday of next week only. We will be starting in the South Bound direction just north of the Central Scranton Expressway and we will continue in that direction to the Luzerne County line. Once at the county line we will reverse direction and continue North Bound until we are complete. We anticipate this work to take approximately 10 to 12 working days. During the week of 9/21-9/28 we will only work on Tuesday and Wednesday. After that, work will continue Monday through Thursday until complete. Delays are expected. When the work shifts from the southbound lanes to the northbound lanes, we will send out an updated alert.

The I-81 North ramp at Main Ave, Dickson City is now open.

Long Term Projects:

I-81 – Schuylkill County – Between Exit 134 (Delano) and 138 (PA 309) will be single lane in both directions and Exit 138 will be closed due to a long term reconstruction/rehabilitation project. During the closure the posted detour will route traffic to Exit 141 (PA 424) to use PA 424/Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Beltway to access PA 309 north. Anticipated Complete - March 2015.

I-81 – Luzerne County - Exit 178A (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport) and Exit 178B (Avoca) have now been combined into one exit, Exit 178 (Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport/Avoca).

I-81 – Lackawanna County - between Exit 180 (Moosic) to Exit 175 (Dupont/Pittston) there will be lane shifts due to reconstruction work to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport Exit including widening of bridges on Interstate 81, rehabilitation of existing bridges over Lidy Road, State Route 315 (Airport Road), and Plane Street, replacement of the pedestrian bridge just north of the Avoca Exit, construction of new exit and entrance ramps, three new roundabouts, construction of two new bridges, and construction of a new roadway. Anticipated completion – November 2015.

I-81-NB Lackawanna Crack seal in the North bound and South bound direction from the Luzerne County Line to the concrete pavement area north of the Central Scranton Expressway. The work will commence on Monday, September 22, 2014 and will last approximately three weeks. 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

I-81 – Lackawanna County - between Exit 188 (Dunmore/Throop) and Exit 190 (Main Avenue) – Lane shifts on I-81, ramp closure from Main Avenue to I-81 North – Early summer the ramp is scheduled to reopen; late summer, there will be paving in the area at night. Anticipated completion – fall 2014.

Interstate 84

Short Term Projects:

I-84-west -Pike-by Exit 20-Bridge Railings repaired-24-Sep-24-Sep-7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

I-84-east-Pike-by Exit 20-Deck repair-25-Sep-25-Sep-7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Long Term Projects:

I – 84 – Lackawanna – between Exit 4 (I-380/I-84 Split) and Exit 8 (Mt. Cobb/Hamlin) will be single lane for mill and fill. Anticipated Completion - November 2014

I- 84 – Pike County - between Exit 46 (Milford) and Exit 34 (Lords Valley/Dingman’s Ferry) There is a single lane closure on I-84 West for two Bridge Deck Replacements. Anticipated completion - fall 2014.

Wayne County

Short Term Project:

Crews will be doing sign work and bridge cleaning countywide.

Long Term Project:

SR 371 – Damascus Township – there is a width restriction of 10 ft. for bridge repair. Anticipated Completion – End of September

Pothole Patching: PennDOT crews will continue to patch potholes throughout the county.
