I have previously written about my favorite animal-penguins.

This week, it's time to show more love for another great animal that many love (and second on my list)-dogs.

I come from a line of dog lovers, so more often than not I've been around dogs growing up and even now.

I'm so used to dogs, in fact, that it doesn't feel normal not to have one in our house. Even if all four of us are home, it feels empty if my dog is missing for even a little while, like when she's at the vet.

Sheba is our nine-year-old yellow Labrador and she's just precious. She was the runt of her litter, but her current size doesn't show that now. It makes you wonder how big her siblings are now.

She joined our household as a puppy and quickly became the nuisance to our other Lab, Bucky. All Sheba wanted to do was play and he gave us that “help me” look.

Unfortunately Bucky is no longer with us, but he will forever stand as one of the best dogs around. Sheba has certainly learned from him and continues to be one of the best.

Of course every dog owner is going to say their dog is the best, but Bucky and Sheba each have really been one of a kind.

There are many dog lovers around and in honor of that I am going to share some lists ranking dog breeds. Who knows, maybe your dog's breed made them.

I came across an article on Yahoo that mentions the 11 most vocal dogs. In order, they are Beagle, Miniature Pinscher, Pomeranian, Chihuahua, Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, American English Coonhound, Miniature Schnauzer, Basset Hound, German Shepard and Yorkshire Terrier.

This brings me to my favorite list: America's top dog breeds. For over 17 years the Labrador Retriever has been ranked number one. Hey, what do you know? Labs are the dogs my family's always had.

Labs are obviously my number one, but my top six breeds are quite the mix. Mine are Labs, Beagles, Huskies, Dalmatians, Boxers and Bull dogs.

Whatever your favorite breed, dogs are by far the best pet (sorry cat lovers). I'm looking forward to adopting one (or even two) of my own.
