The Honesdale Little Baseball Association's 11-year-old all star team will receive an "honor escort" Saturday morning down Main Street . The local lads are the reigning PA state champs and are headed to Monroe (NJ) for the regional tourney.

Maple City baseball fans will have an unprecedented chance to come out and congratulate our reigning state champs this afternoon.

According to local officials, the 2012 Honesdale Little Baseball Association 11-year-old all stars will be feted with a parade down Main Street.

Team members and their coaches will assemble at 11:45 a.m. near the Triangle Park, located at the north end of Main Street. They will then receive an “honor escort” through the town starting an noon.

This parade honors the HLBA all stars for winning the Cal Ripken crown last week. The local lads went 5-1 at this year’s event to seal the deal on a title.

Thanks to their victory at Warrington, the HLBA all stars now advance to the regional tourney, which is set for the weekend of August 3-5 in Monroe (NJ).

Honesdale defeated perrenial powerhouse Llanarch Hills, 6-2, in the state title tilt. With this win, Coach Curreri’s squad punched its ticket to regionals.

The local lads will open their quest for a spot in the national tournament on Friday, August 3rd at 10:00 a.m. against a team from Southern New Jersey. Win or lose, Honesdale will play again at 7:00 p.m. versus the host team.

Another pool play contest will follow on Saturday and then the teams with the  top records will be seeded for medeal round action. The remaining teams will play on through Sunday evening, with the championship game tentatively slated for 7:00 p.m.

Members of the HLBA’s 2012 Cal Ripken championship team are: Anthony Dell’Aquila, Max Land, Will Howell, Ethan Dunn. Second row: Nate Frigoletto, Cade LaBracio, Anthony DeGori, David Curreri, Jack Dennis, Max Alessi, Andy Carroll, Beau Freiermuth.

Coaches are: Joe Curreri, Mike Frigoletto and Rick LaBracio.
