Western Wayne avenged a heartbreaking loss this weekend and in so doing punched its ticket to the Northern Area Junior Football League divisional title tilt.
The Junior Wildcats traveled to the Pioneer City on Sunday for a quarterfinal battle with Carbondale. These two B-Teams met in the regular season finale, a game that ended with the Chargers posting an overtime victory.
This time around, Western Wayne came through with the clutch win, 13-12.
Next up for the Junior ‘Cats is a date with Lackawanna Trail in the NAJFL semifinals. The winner of that on earns a trip to the “Super Bowl.”
Bailey Walck and Danny Boots proved to be a potent 1-2 punch on this day.
Walck carried 13 times for 71 yards. The highlight of Bailey’s game came early in the second quarter when he he crested the 1,000 yard mark for the season.
Boots also enjoyed a big game, rushing for 101 yards on 16 carries.
Alex Kuha paced the Jr. Wildcat offense. The talented young quarterback hit on two pass attempts, including a 7-yard touchdown strike to Cole Fuller.
Then, with just over three minutes left in regulation and his team trailing 12-6, Kuha came through in the clutch again. Alex broke loose for a 30-yard TD scamper, tying the score at 12-12.
Moments later, Walck tacked on the PAT that sealed the deal on an electrifying 13-12 win.
