So you care about energy conservation. Now it’s time to do energy conservation. We know there are simple steps we can take to save energy and money at home, but we haven’t acted on them because of time, cost or motivation. Well, this summer no more excuses. Sustainable Energy Education and Development Support is making energy saving convenient and easy.  SEEDS is providing 100 free household energy assessments complete with a recommended action list to residents and homeowners in Wayne and Pike Counties as part of their new program TEAAM: The Energy Awareness Action Movement.

Need proof that home energy conservation really makes a difference? Last year, as part of the SEEDS 350 kWh Saved Project, 36 local families collectively saved 113,560 kWh and nearly $16,000 on their annual electric bills.  They also kept about 84.8 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere.  Imagine if 100 Wayne & Pike families started actively saving energy instead of inadvertently wasting it.  Imagine if your electric bill started going down instead of up.

In June, four local high school students will attend a 4-day Energy Assessment Training that will provide them with hands-on experience in home energy, water & waste assessing.  This SEEDS training will feature Nick Hindley, a Building Professional Institute (BPI) certified energy auditor and instructor as well as other local professionals. Students will learn how to recognize common residential energy sinks and make recommendations for cost effective home improvements.

Using their new skills, teams of two students & one adult will perform the 2 hour assessment in 100 local homes. As a participating home you will receive a report that contains specific recommendations for improvements that will maximize your energy savings. Even better, you’ll receive a packet of discounts from local and regional business that will help you make the recommended improvements. Currently, businesses include R3 Hardware, Energy Smart Insulation Inc., Greenfield Energy Solutions and Don Hiller Plumbing and Heating LLC. All you have to do is sign up!

Are you ready to save? Act now ‘cause these things are going to like hot cakes! The first 100 homes to respond will receive a FREE energy assessment. You can sign up for your FREE home assessment on the SEEDS website, HYPERLINK "http://www.seedsgroup.net/"www.seedsgroup.net or by calling TEAAM at HYPERLINK "tel:%28570%29%20630%200592"(570) 630 0592.
