A young East Stroudsburg man is in custody today in Pike County after being caught in the act of trying to burglarize a Pine Ridge home overnight and confessing to another burglary in Saw Creek June 20.

Aaron Michael Hernandez, 18, and an alleged accomplice were arrested at around 3:30 this morning as they tried to burglarize the Pine Ridge home. Once in custody, troopers discovered that Hernandez was also a person of interest in the other burglary.

Trooper Michael Mulvey reports asking Hernandez if he would like to discuss the older case. He said he would, was advised of his rights, and subsequently confessed to the June 20 burglary in a written statement.

He was charged with Burglary, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property and Criminal Mischief and arraigned before District Justice Stephen McBride before being remanded to the Pike County Correctional Facility for lack of bail.

The troopers involved with the case were not available to comment for this story, and did not mention the current status of the other suspect in their report.
