Honesdale Borough has been forced to drop workman’s comp coverage for Honesdale EMS volunteers.

Based on the emergency service provider’s move outside the borough limits — to new headquarters on Route 191 in Cherry Ridge — the borough’s insurance carrier, Keystone Insurers Group has advised they are no longer able to offer coverage. Up until that point, about a dozen volunteers had been covered under a roughly $1,200 annual policy, borough officials said.

The issue was brought up at Honesdale Borough’s special meeting Monday night.
Cancellation of coverage will be effective August 1st.

Honesdale EMS could not be reached for comment.
