The Chicks closed out an undefeated season this week, dealing the Marlins a 6-1 loss in the Junior Division championship game. With the win, BGM finished up with a perfect 12-0 record.


BGM Fastener put the finishing touches on a perfect Babe Ruth Softball season with a dominating performance in the Junior Division championship game.

On a rainy afternoon at  the Stourbridge Elementary School Field, the Chicks defeated the Marlins for their 12th consecutive win.

The final score was 6-1.

Perfect Season
BGM?Fastener ran wild during the regular season, piling up 10 wins without a loss and earning a #1 playoff seeding.

Coach Judy Goyette’s girls opened the 2011 campaign with an 11-0 shutout back on May 7th. Overall, BGM outscored its competition by a margin of 82-30.

The Chicks punched their ticket to the Junior Division title tilt via an 11-4 semifinal victory over the Express.

Brianna Potter led the BGM?attack with three hits in as many at-bats. Sophia Goyette, Shyanne Swartwood, Callie Craft, Rayne Arnold and Alex Reed each chipped in with two hits.

Camden Bannan earned the start and received relief help from teammates Craft and Swartwood.

This victory propeled the Chicks into their title tilt showdown with a scrappy Boyds Mills Press squad. BGM tallied twice in the bottom of the first and never looked back en route to a 5-run decision.

Goyette led off the game with a single and was soon joined on base by Bannan, who worked a walk.

Hailey Laabs gave the Chicks a 2-0 lead, chasing both runners home with a clutch double.

Boyds Mills Press nicked Bannan for a run in the second, but BGM sealed the deal on this win with two late game rallies.

Goyette and Potter crossed the plate in the home half of the fourth. Craft and Kalah Gries sprinted home in the fifth.

Craft and Goyette were BGM’s top batters, banging out a pair of hits each.

Bannan worked two innings in the circle, then handed the ball off to relievers Kraft and Swartwood.

Rounding out the Chicks offensive assault were: Julia Huber, Gries, Swartwood, Reed, Weist and Bannan with one hit each.
