Greene Dreher Volunteer Fire Association will host its annual picnic and parade on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd in
the picnic grove behind the firehouse on Crestmont Drive in Newfoundland.

The picnic opens Friday at 5pm and Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. All are invited to join us for great food, live music nightly, beverages and games.

This year the picnic will feature some new menu items in addition to old favorites and once again there will be a horseshoe tournament on Sunday. Musical entertainment on Friday will be provided by the McWilliams
Brothers.  Saturday will feature The Quake, and Remedy will perform on Sunday.  On Sunday July 3rd, the parade will begin at 3:00 pm.

Parade participants will line up at 2:00 pm across from Privacy Pines on Route 507. The parade will proceed through Main Street Newfoundland and end at the firehouse. Everyone is encouraged to join our community float contest.

No preregistration is necessary, just show up. Trophies will be presented in the picnic grove following the parade.  Being recognized this year as The Grand Marshal of the parade is Emil Allgeier. Allgeier was born in Newark, New Jersey and moved to Pennsylvania in 2001 with his wife, Pastor Marge Allgeier. Presently, he serves on the Board of Trustees for the Newfoundland Ambulance Association.

He is a life member of Phillips -Zacharias –Phillips American Legion Post 859 in Newfoundland where he performs with the color guard and acts as Finance Officer. In the past he served as Judge Advocate and Deputy Department Commander of the 15th District.

For the last three years he has been a member of the Military Honor Guard where he is on call for military funerals. He is also "a call" for all friends and family who need help. He is willing to leave whatever he is doing to help someone else even if it means traveling back to New Jersey. Recently he was inducted into the 4 Chaplains Legion of Honor for his unselfish commitment to friends, community, and family. The picnic is open rain or shine.
