How are you at keeping appointments?
By Pastor Bruce R. Burke
There are two appointments we will all keep one day!
NUMBER ONE --“It is appointed for men once to die --
NUMBER TWO -- and after that the Judgment”  (Hebrews 9:27).
We will all die one day -- but that will not be the end -- there’s more to come. After death we will stand before the God of Creation, the God of Heaven, the God of the Universe -- and give account of what we have done in this life.
This Judgment will not be like an earthly court with a judge in a long robe, lawyers, witnesses and jury. Rather it will be very personal, very just, and very honest. God the Judge will open His Books and we will be judged according to our works -- then He will pronounce His Righteous Judgment  (Revelation 20:12-15).
Everything we have ever done -- every word we have ever spoken, every thought we have ever entertained, every decision we have ever made -- it will be a very long list which will cover our entire life (Matthew 12:35-36).
There will be only one deciding factor in this Judgment -- What have we done with His Son Jesus Christ?
The Bible is very clear concerning God’s Son --
“For God so loved the (people of) the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever Believes in Him should not perish (die), but have Everlasting Life” (John 3:16).
“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world -- but that the world through Him might be Saved” (John 3:17).
“He that Believes in Jesus is not condemned -- but He that Believes not is  condemned already, because he has not Believed in the name of the only  Son of God” (John 3:18).
So you see, if we have not Believed and committed our life to Him, then we will stand alone on Judgment Day, and the Lord will say to us, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into ever lasting fire”  (Matthew 25:41).
However, if we have committed our life to Jesus, and asked Him to forgive us and save us, He will say, “Come you Blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you” (Matthew 25:34).
The Choice is ours. Invite Jesus Christ into our heart and life, to Save us, Forgive us, and Assure us of a Home in Heaven -- or ignore His Free Gift of Eternal Life and be assured of a place in hell.
“In whom we have Redemption through His Blood, the Forgiveness of  sins, according to the Riches of His Grace” (Ephesians 1:7).
“Jesus said, I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE -- no man can come  to the Father, except through Me” (John 14:6).
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a New Creation -- old things are passed away -- behold, all things are become New” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
“For there is One God, and One Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).
“Jesus said, unless a man is Born Again, he CANNOT see the Kingdom of God” (John 3:3).
May God give us all we need to surrender our life to Jesus Christ and receive His Power and Victory.
“It is appointed for men once to die -- and  after that the Judgment”  (Hebrews 9:27).
“Behold, NOW is the accepted time -- Behold, NOW is the Day of  Salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ -- and you WILL be Saved”  (Acts 16:31).
“As many as Received Him, to them gave He Power to become the sons   of God, even to them that Believe on His Name”  (John 1:12).
“He that Believes in the Son HAS Everlasting Life -- and he that DOES NOT Believe in the Son shall not see Life -- but the Wrath of God abides   on Him”  (John 3:36).
