Anna Rennekamp, the daughter of Theresa and Joseph Rennekamp, of Lake Ariel is very active in the music program at Western Wayne. Having been in marching band for four years, Anna has advanced from being a follower to being a strong leader.
She was a librarian and the section leader her junior year, and the secretary and drum major this year. Four years in the concert band have made her an accomplished musician, being recognized as “most exemplary sophomore” and “most exemplary junior.”  Her favorite thing about concert band has been the friendly competition of the upperclassmen for the prestigious position of first chair.  Anna tried out for District 9 band the past three years, learning to handle the pressures of competition and will play in the District 9 concert in January. She has recently taken two music theory courses to expand her understanding of music and is exploring the world of jazz band, trying her hand at improvising and transposing. She shares her music as a liturgical musician at St. Thomas More church.
Anna is also a three-year member of the National Honor Society which gives her opportunities to volunteer, providing service to elementary students at Discovery Day, Field Day, and at PTA meetings. Belonging to an all-girls’ Catholic Book club which exposed her to good, quality literature and strong discussion she says “gave me confidence to take AP English Language as a junior and enjoyed it so much that I was compelled to take AP Literature my senior year.”
She and her classmate Jonathan O’Hora were honored by the Western Wayne School Board at their December 2008 meeting.
