A Christmas Eve attempted theft at the Texas Township Wal-Mart found one Lakeville man in jail afterwards.
At about 6:30 p.m., Honesdale Police took into custody Jason Jon Van Valkenburg, of Lakeville, who allegedly tried to unlawfully remove four video games from Wal-Mart, according to the state police report.
Van Valkenburg was also charged for a Dec. 16 theft, when he allegedly stole a compound bow from Wal-Mart, the report stated.
He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Bonnie L. Carney and placed in the Wayne County Jail under $50,000 bail.

Explorer flips in ditch

On December 22, Patricia Bittner, 54, of Tyler Hill, lost control of her 1998 Ford Explorer while traveling south on the Oregon Turnpike in Damascus Township, according to the state police report. Bittner then struck a ditch and the vehicle overturned.  She was not injured. The cause of the accident, which occurred at 8:20 a.m., was due to a slippery road, the report stated.
