Between playing on the Honesdale High School Girls’ Soccer Team, being Vice President of Student Council, and interning at the Lakeside Elementary School as a 5th grade teacher helper, it’s a wonder that senior Maureen Kay has much time to sleep let alone do anything else.
With college right around the corner, Maureen plans on attending college and possibly majoring in Education. “I really like working with kids and helping them learn”, she explained.
An ambitious teen, Maureen also volunteers in the St. John’s Church Youth Group. Their most recent project was setting up the beautiful luminaries on Church Street for the Christmas holiday.
Volunteering and participating in activities in the community and at school are an important part of Maureen’s life. “Participating in activities has helped me to make some good friends, while keeping me out of trouble”, she explained. “Overall, I think being involved has made me a better person.”
