Moscow, Pa. -

The parking lot of the new Medicine Shoppe pharmacy in Moscow was jam-packed with people ready to celebrate an event almost one year in the making
Last July, Frank DePietro opened the pharmacy, located along Rt. 435. After taking the time to remodel some of the interior, DePietro held a grand reopening celebration on May 13.
“This is a great day for Northeastern Pennsylvania, especially the Moscow community,” Depietro said. “We employ 11-12 people, these employees are dedicated individuals who make my job easy. We have a great staff and an incredible patient/customer loyalty.”
DePietro, who lives in Dunmore along with his wife Jennifer and their newborn daughter Danielle, explained that it was always his dream to own a pharmacy.
“I grew up in a family business, DePietro’s  catering in Dunmore, so I’ve always wanted to be my own boss,” DePietro said.
The grand reopening festivities included several raffles, an outdoor cookout, and samples of Electric City Coffee, which the pharmacy sells, inside.
“It is nice to have a pharmacy back in town,” said Moscow Borough Council President Art Pencek. “It is a great service to the people and I hope that the people of Moscow support this pharmacy and keep it here.”
The Medicine Shoppe offers a delivery service on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays to customers who may not be able to come in and pick up their medicine.
“You wear a lot of different hats as a pharmacist,” DePietro said. “Sometimes you’re a doctor, a lawyer, an insurance agent... but most of all you’re a compassionate friend. We’re the most accessible health care profession out there. The role of the pharmacist is to help others in a caring way.”
DePietro credits his family with his success in opening his business.
“The three most influential people in my life right now are my wife, Jennifer, my mom, Judy DePietro, and my dad, Tom “Chick” DePietro. All thre have been powerful influences in my life and they have shaped me as the person I am today. I cannot thank them enough for helping me realize my dreams.”
And DePietro has his own message for the people of Moscow and the North Pocono area.
“I just want to say thank you and keep coming back on my road to happy destiny,” he said. “There’s plenty of space in the car so hop along for the ride.”
