Come join us in remembering our veterans by attending the annual Memorial Day service at the Hollisterville Cemetery on Monday, May 25 at 11:30 a.m.
This year’s guest speaker will be recently commissioned Army 2LT Lieutenant
Kevin Wood.  Wood is the son of Edward and Elouise Wood.  He is a 1999 graduate of North Pocono High School, where he played football, baseball, and was in the concert band.  Wood attended Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa., and majored in English with a minor in Political Science.  He was on the varsity swim team and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.  In October 2004, Wood enlisted in the Army and completed the Counterintelligence Agent Course at Ft. Huachuca, Ariz.  Assigned to the 4th Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, he deployed to Iraq as part of the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team in August 2005. Wood spent 12 months in Anbar province and 4 months in Baghdad.  In 2007, he was accepted to the Masters of Public Administration program at Penn State Harrisburg, and the Army’s active duty Green to Gold Program.  Wood received his commission on May 16th at Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa.  He is branched Army Aviation and will begin flight school this summer at Ft. Rucker, AL.  Wood and his wife, Tonya, were married last October.
The Hollisterville Cemetery is located on Route 590 in the village of Hollisterville.  Once again, the VFW Thomas A. Snook Post will conduct the Memorial Day Program.  Immediately following the service, lunch will be served in the Hollisterville Bible Church Fellowship Hall.  Due to the large turnout expected, a donation of any type of covered dish would be greatly appreciated.  For further details, please contact Regina Polley, 842-4394, Susan Ciscoe, 842-3268, or Polley Ciscoe, 689-2223.
