A group of local businesses have joined together for an event to help promote local commerce and to showcase many of the great outdoor activities in our area.

The Dime Bank in conjunction with The Wayne Independent, The News Eagle, The Carbondale News, The Villager and the Bold Gold Media Group have combined forces to hold the Fourth Annual Lake Region Outdoor Expo.

The Expo is being held, rain or shine, on Saturday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Wallenpaupack High School on Route 6 East of Hawley.

If you are interested in seeing the very latest offerings in RV’s, Campers, ATV’s, Solar Panels, Spas, Hot Tubs and more you will not want to miss this event! Come on by, bring the entire family and join The Dime Bank, Rusty Palmer, Inc., the Wayne County Campground Association, Greenfield Energy, Star Spa Services, Bucelli Plumbing & Heating, Roadhouse RV & Camper, Kitchen & Bath Showroom, Relay for Life, Dessin Animal Shelter, SEEDS, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Roots & Rhythm, Dorflinger and Lake Watch.

The Independent, Eagle, News and Villager are hosting “free face painting” and kids crafts as well as subscription specials, merchandise sales and the featured Outdoor Expo 2010 tab.

The Bold Gold Media Van will be on display, with special give-a-ways and live broadcasts all day.

The “Welcome Tent” will be staffed by The Dime Bank. Personnel will be on hand to provide onsite special financing! See something you like? Buy it on the spot.

According to Michelle Hessling, publisher of the four newspapers co-sponsoring this event, “We are so happy to be working with The Dime Bank and Bold Gold again this year and to be bringing this very popular event back to Lake Wallenpaupack. I anticipate that the 2010 Expo is going to be bigger and better than ever. We are really excited to have The News Eagle on board with us this year, as well as all of the vendors, both new and loyal.” Hessling added, “We couldn’t do this without the cooperation from the Wallenpaupack School District. It is really a pleasure to work with them and it is so convenient that they are located, right here on the Big Lake.”

Admission is free, with plenty of parking. The one-day event will provide ample display areas for all businesses — large and small and each attendee is automatically entered to win free door prizes, which will be awarded during the hourly drawings.

Refreshments will be available for purchase and the proceeds from sales will benefit the Wallenpaupack Softball Booster Club.
