There’s just no other way to say it: Grimm Racing dominated the field at Loudon last year.
With veteran driver Eddie MacDonald at the wheel, the Waymart-based team claimed both races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2008.
In Eddie captured a checkered flag at the “Heluva Good 125” in June, then returned to Victory Lane in September.
Nine months removed from his last victory in NASCAR’s Camping World East Series, MacDonald is champing at the bit for another trophy.
“I’m definitely excited to be going back to Loudon,” Eddie told TWI Sports. “I’d really like for us to win there again. Obviously, to win three times in a row at any track is tough...but, we’re going to give it our very best shot.”
This week’s event is the sixth of an 11-race schedule that began back in April at the Green-ville/Pickens Speedway (NC).
The Heluva Good 125 will begin at 5:10 p.m. on Friday, June 26th. The Speed Channel will broadcast the race on tape delay July 9th at 3:00 p.m.
So Far, So Good
Entering this weekend’s race at Loudon, Eddie MacDonald is sitting in fourth place in the overall points standings.
The 29-year-old driver has accumulated 723 points and is just four behind Matt Kobyluck for third place.
With a strong showing at the New Hampshire Speedway, MacDonald could conceivably leapfrog Jody Lavender (746) into second place. The Camping World East points leader thus far on the season is Brett Moffitt (764).
“I’m not 100% thrilled with where we’ve finished in a couple of those races,” Eddie said. “We have a really good, fast car and we should have more to show for it at this point.”
MacDonald’s most recent result was a seventh place finish at Watkins Glen. In that one, Eddie qualified 11th, moved up as high has second then had to content himself with another Top 10 showing.
Anticipation
Last June, MacDonald copped “his biggest win of the season” at Loudon.
Eddie he survived a three-wide scramble with Matt Kobyluck and Trevor Bayne to claim his first win at New Hampshire. MacDonald used the inside lane to squeeze by Bayne just as the series rookie was trying to pass Kobyluck on the inside.
Eddie led the Heluva Good 125 three times for a total of 35 laps. He moved out front for good very late in a race that stretched to 127 laps. Bayne finished second, followed by Kobyluck, Austin Dillon and Ricky Carmichael.
