Wayne County's own Kyle Kerber is the first hunter to appear in this year's TWI Sports Big Buck photo gallery.
A dairy farmer from Tyler Hill, Kyle has been hunting for nearly a quarter century. He spied this beautiful 8-pointer while patrolling the woods near Damascus Township. He used a 30.06 Remington to down the beast from a distance of approximately 50 yards.
"This is the biggest buck I've ever gotten in my life," Kerber said with a big smile.
Kyle had a busy morning on Monday, which is the first day of buck season in Pennsylvania. He was up and hard at work in the barn by 4:00 a.m. Then, when the cows had been milked, he headed off into the woods. Kerber wasn't out in the elements for too long when he encountered his prey.
The buck is a healthy specimen, sporting beams of nearly 16" and an impressive 15" spread.
"By 9:30 I was back in the barn feeding the heifers," Kyle said.
And, by 10:30 a.m., he was at our 8th Street offices having his photo snapped!
TWI Sports congratulates Kyle Kerber and reminds all Wayne County hunters that they're welcome to drop by and become part of our Big Buck gallery. Sports Editor Kevin Edwards will be on hand anytime between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to take a picture and record rack measurements. Come on in!
