The 1st Annual Kelly Sledzinski Memorial 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is set for this weekend.
The event, which was organized by Western Wayne student Kevin Rivera as his senior project, will be held this weekend in the middle school gym.
Kelly was a standout multi-sport athlete and a graduate of Western Wayne. She waged a courageous war with cancer, but eventually succumbed to the insidious disease. This basketball tournament will be held in her honor.
According to Kevin Rivera, the tourney is open to local players of all abilities. The event will tip-off Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. with the Adult Divisions.
Junior high teams (grades 5-8) will play on Saturday and varsity squads are in action on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Cost to enter a team in this tournament is $10 per person. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Kelly Sledzinski Memorial Scholarship Fund.
