Former Honesdale High School basketball star Sean Curran is making a successful transition from scholastic to collegiate action.
A 6’2” freshman guard, Sean has seen extensive playing time in each of Alfred University’s first two exhibition games. He logs minutes at both guard positions and even takes at turn at small forward when the Saxons go to their 3-guard set.
Curran scored eight points in a season-opening 69-66 loss to PSU DuBois. Sean then tallied six more points as the Saxons won their first game of the ‘09 campaign, a 75-66 victory over Keuka College (NY).
“Sean has become a complete player,” Honesdale Coach Tim Wood told TWI Sports. “He has worked very hard on his game and he’s gotten much bigger & stronger. Sean is going to be a very good collegiate player.”
Next up for Alfred is a berth in the Dickinson College Invitational Tournament. The Saxons tip-off against PSU-York at 6:00 p.m. this evening.
