The awards & accolades are beginning to roll in for Susquehanna University’s Rich Palazzi.

A 2008 graduate of Wallenpaupack Area, Rich is continuing his gridiron career with the Crusaders...a team headed to this year’s NCAA Division III play-off tournament.

Under the direction of longtime Coach Steve Briggs, Susquehanna went 6-1 in Liberty League regular season action. This outstanding record earned the Crusaders a share of the division title (with Union College) and a play-off invitation.

Susquehanna will open its D-III title quest this Saturday at Delaware Valley. Kick-off is slated for noon at Lipinski Field in Doylestown.

Palazzi has been a constant presence in the Crusaders’ line-up all fall.

The sophomore signal caller earned his first start in the season opener against Moravian...and, with the exception of two games missed due to injury, he’s been there ever since.

Rich is among the Liberty League leaders in every major passing category. Palazzi has completed 110-of-180 passes (61%) for 1,520 yards and 19 TDs. He’s been intercepted just three times and led the Crusaders to an overall record of 8-2.

Rich’s best single game outing to date came in a 35-21 win over Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Palazzi went 15-of-22 in this one for 193 yards. He also connected for five TD passes on the day.

Palazzi’s outburst represents both a career high and an all-time record at Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium.

For this unforgettable performance, Palazzi was named the Liberty League’s Player of the Week (Nov. 9th).

In addition, Rich is a First Team selection for the Liberty League’s All-Star team. He is joined on that mythical squad by teammates Dave Pavaletz (running back), JJ Moran (wide receiver), Drew Champney and Ryan Schumann (linemen).

Coach Briggs and his assistants were also recognized as the Liberty League’s Top Coach-ing Staff.

Rich is the son of Lou & Debbie Palazzi of Newfoundland. He is Secondary Ed/History major.
