Once again, Maple City fans were treated to an exciting basketball exhibition this past weekend at Lakeside.
On Saturday, the Honesdale Biddy Basketball Association hosted a full slate of Junior Division games, while Senior Division players took the court on Sunday.
Weather permitting, the action will resume this coming weekend with contests on Saturday and Sunday.
Junior Division
In Game One of Week 2 Junior Division play, the Cavaliers raced out to a 10-2 lead en route to a 20-13 win over the Rockets.
Savion Brown and Cole Bannan paced the Cavs’ attack with six points each. Alex Atcavage (4 pts) and Robbie Campen (3 pts) led the Rockets.
Game Two was the day’s most exciting contest...a battle between the Falcons and Bullets that went right down to the wire.
When the final whistle blew, the Falcons had emerged with a 22-21 win. Anthony Dell’Aquila and Nicholas Sherman tickled the twine for eight points each for the victors. Luke Bancroft rattled the rims for a game-high 10 points in a losing effort.
In Saturday’s third game, the Hornets held on for a narrow 14-10 decision over the Sixers.
Matthew Bresset, Ethan Dunn and Luke Schwab led a balanced Hornets’ assault with four each. Five Sixers players contributed a bucket apiece in this tough loss.
The final Junior Division game of the weekend saw the Spurs roll to a 26-17 win over the Lakers.
Will Howell led all scorers with 10 points. Drew Howell (6 pts) and Aidan Pietraszewski (6 pts) also added big buckets.
Senior Division
Justin LoBasso scored eight points in leading the Hawks to an 18-15 win over the Mavericks.
Ryan Novobilski poured in eight markers in the loss for the Mavs.
Sunday’s second Senior Division contest saw the Cardinals deal the Frogs a 28-22 setback.
Konnor Burke and Josh Benson led the attack with 10 points apiece.
The Blazers, paced by an 18-point outburst by Mark Ambrose, defeated the Bulls by a score of 24-21.
