It’s easy to forget sometimes that Honesale is a borough of culture.
Take a stroll downtown and you’ll be surprised — pleasantly of course — by the number of art galleries littered throughout Main Street.
There’s the Philip Hone Gallery, Milkweed and The Hanson Gallery.
The arts will really have a place in our hearts this weekend.
The first Art Extravaganza, presented by Connections Magazine and Bold Gold Media, is the tri-state area’s largest and most prestigious art show and auction, held at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
AE will feature 42 pieces of artwork to be auctioned off, 30 artists and four art gallery booths.
Attendees will enjoy beautiful art by local, regional, national and world renowned artists, with purchasing opportunities, hors d’oeuvres and live music.
Works by national and internationally known artists Christopher Reis, Curtis James and Howard Jason, will be among those featured.
Admission is $10 per person and the proceeds will go to fund children’s literacy and other programs run by the Lake and Salem Community Library in Hamlin.

The arts are all around us.
They are works of creation and inspiration, endless hours spent by an artist who uses imagination and wonder — and with the stroke of a brush — to bring magic to a canvas.
Culture like this is something you would think only exists in SoHo or in some big cities where there are numerous art galleries and the world is a stage for fine arts.
But it does exist right here in Honesdale.
The upcoming Art Extravaganza gives us the opportunity to see whhat this culture is all about — to see the magic that our local artists can conjure from a blank canvas.
The arts is a world full of wonder. And the art that you will find is certainly wonderful.
