At The Wayne Independent, we try very hard to listen to what our readers have to say and make adjustments if warranted.
An issue has arisen concerning our website and we want to make sure we hear what you, our readers and advertisers, have to say.
The issue is about comments left on our website. You can read editor Greg Little’s column below to get the gist of the matter. What it boils down to is how do we handle commentors on our site. To be frank, some of those commenting have simply gotten out of hand.
It’s one thing to deliver a strong opinion, it’s another thing to deliver a vicious personal attack when there’s really nothing to back up such an attack.
There are many options we can consider and several actions we could take. That includes no action and just leaving things as they stand. That might indeed be what we decide.
But before any decisions are made, we want to hear from our readers. If you don’t go on our website, we ask that you find a way in this instance and cast a vote in our opinion poll.
That will help us gage the feelings of the community.

How this all plays out remains to be seen. We aren’t happy about having to take this kind of action, however, it seems there are few choices in the matter. Something has got to be done because of the malice which is being spewed out by a few.
And we realize it’s just a few. For the most part, the majority of our readers are very community minded and respectful. Yet as in most things, it is a few who tend to ruin it for the many.
