Soldier who gave his life followed the Pledge
To the Editor:
Back in the day, I can remember standing in school and placing my hand over my heart and say, “I Pledge Allegiance to the flag, one nation under God, because I live in the United States of America.” I also recall placing my hand over my heart during the Star Spangled Banner.
While attending a social gathering, I only saw one person place their hand over their heart during the Star Spangled Banner. Have we forgotten what America stands for and the people that made our Nation become the land of the free?
This brings to mind Veterans’ Day. Veterans’ Day is to honor those men and women of the Armed Forces who shed their blood, gave up their limbs or even life to provide us with our great nation, which is the United States of America.
My nephew, LCPL Jacob Walter Beisel, USMC placed his hand over his heart and made an allegiance to the flag to protect our great nation. Jacob also paid the ultimate price-his life. I know Jacob is in heaven along with all the other military people that laid down their life protecting others. This Veterans’ Day take a moment and place your hand over your heart and be thankful for our Armed Forces. I started with the beginning of the Pledge of Allegiance I will now end with Liberty and Justice for All.
Happy Veterans’ Day! Miss and love you, Jacob.
