Going mad over gas
To the Editor:
Thank you and the staff of The Wayne Independent, for following up on the gas drilling in this area.
It is as if everyone has gone mad. There is no consideration for the environment any more, particularly here in Wayne County.
Many of these rumors of gas spills, contamination, water and air pollution from hydro-fracturing have been covered up . There are stories of people in other states being paid off to keep publicity at a minimum. And they are trying to cut off funds for the EPA and watchdog groups.
I understand the frustration of people in this area, watching TV, LIFESTYLES OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS, etc. who suffer from the disease of MORE. The beauty of our land, countryside, rivers, wetlands and wild life matters less when big money is offered to private land owners. How sad! It is really all about greed, anxiety and money. And when they rip open all of our state forests and game lands, as they surely plan to do, we will all "reap what we sow". Is this all worth it?
I have been feeling so angry, in that helpless sort of way. But I appreciate the fact that the Wayne Independent covers these things, and doesn't sweep it under the rug like the TV and bigger media outlets do
Sincerely
JJ Gable, Lake Ariel, PA
