[Editor’s note: This letter, to Clinton Township Roadmaster Donald W. Salak, was forwarded to The Wayne Independent for publication. The writer states that it is his understanding this letter was not read meeting when it was requested by a citizen attending the meeting. He was unable be at the meeting.]
Roadmaster Salak:
I have requested many times verbally, at the Township meeting and by leaving messages on the telephone at the Township building that the ditches on Burns Road (and probably on all the Township roads) need be cleaned out, which is the cause of the damage to the road surface. In reference to the ditch in front of my property 57 Burns Road it hasn’t been cleaned for many, many years and one of my pipes is blocked, because of your negligence to keep the ditch cleaned for the water to flow freely. Now it’s up to you to clean my pipe out or replace same.
When the road was graded the grader wheels ran on the shoulder of the road and shoved it into the ditch, which is also part of the problem with water running into the roadway. If some action isn’t taken shortly, I will send this letter to the Editor in the Scranton Times/Tribune and The Wayne Independent
I would suggest that a backhoe should be used to clean the center of the ditch and to rebuild the shoulder of the road, where needed, to keep water from entering the roadway. It’s a shame that a citizen has to send you a Certified letter and remind you of your duties as the Clinton Township Supervisor Roadmaster.
Sincerely,
John A. Fobes Jr.
