LETTER: Motorcyclists support Right to Repair Act

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation strongly believes that consumers are entitled to the freedom to choose how their motorcycle, car or other type of vehicle is maintained, serviced or upgraded.

Excellent sidewalk restoration

On any given day, a person can pick up the newspaper and read a story of someone getting bilked by scam artists or so called "contractors "with" fly by night" businesses who are looking to," take your money and run" for shoddy workmanship and shady service.

Reasoned dialogue needed on gas

Tom Shepstone and I disagree about many things -  politics, strategies, colors, cars, just to name a few.  His family and mine are neighbors and we have no problem talking about our differences in a polite and respectful manner that moves things forward – even if this means agreeing to disagree.  That is the point.

Two in GOP vie for Pa. governor

Many of you may know that in the race for Governor of PA there are two candidates on the Republican ticket, one of which has already received the party endorsement though we have not yet had a primary.  I recently became aware of some comments that Attorney General Tom Corbett made at the PA Leadership Conference on April 17, 2010 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMXCy2VUAbM&feature=related to see for yourselves).  He said that our Constitution was “a living document.”

GOP needs to elect a true conservative

Tuesday's primary election is very important for Republicans in the 10th Congressional District. Republicans need to send forth a true conservative who can defeat Democrat Chris Carney in November.
I've had the opportunity to hear each of the three candidates in person, to review news stories about them and to review their Web sites.

In memory of LCPL Beisel

Once again the year is approaching Memorial Day.  It has been four years since our Marine, LCPL Jacob Walter Beisel, sacrificed his life.

Consider school taxpayers

Hopefully, letter writer and senior student Nathan Hoff will continue to be involved in the economic and political systems of wherever he may choose to reside in future years.

Health insurer criticized

The largest health insurer in Northeastern Pennsylvania evidently cares more about increasing profits than supporting the companies whose employees they insure.

Sitting on a treasure trove

My compliments to Mr. Becker for his editiorial, “WEDCO and gas:  a vested interest to do well” in the April 17 issue.  Peter Becker evidently understands the broader issues of development of natural gas in the United States and particularly in Wayne County.

Soccer lights are a taxpayer issue

In rebuttal of the letter submitted to TWI April 21, 2010 from Mr. Nathan A. Hoff.

Why lights are needed at soccer field

In response to the letter in the April 17,18,19 Weekend Edition from Mr. Dave Sherwood. I am writing to provide a plausible explanation for why the soccer field needs lights. To preface, 1 am a senior at HHS, was a member of the Boy's Soccer Team all four years, and served as a Captain this past season.

Defending the death penalty

Once again, the Lincoln Institute under the letterhead of Mr. Albert Paschall has expounded on the question of the death penalty without, obviously, bothering to ask the general public of Pennsylvania their opinion. That does not constitute any valid reasoning behind Paschall's contentions about the use/no use of this crime penalty.

In response to poem’s critic

Robert Handloff read my poem "America My Country" in the April 1, 2010 issue of the Wayne Independent and responded with his opinion .
He ended asking me "How's that working for ya"? I would like to answer that question.

Anti-illegal immigration only

Let’s make this short and sweet as an answer to Mr. Handloff’s knock at “conservatives” and “Tea Partiers” being opposed to immigration.

Obama needs to be tough on outlaw regimes

Earlier this week [letter sent, April 7], President Obama announced a nuclear agreement that is being touted by the White House as a new way forward in international relations.

Letter writer’s ‘twisted logic’

In response to the "Letter to the Editor" in the March 31, 2010 edition of The Wayne Independent by one Robert Handloff of Thompson, Pa., I find it very difficult to understand his twisted logic.

Reversing America’s clock in vain

Here are the words of Emma Lazarus written in 1883 at the base of the statue of Liberty:

Says Carney didn’t listen

When I asked the question about abortion during Congressman Carney's Town Hall Meeting in Honesdale, he assured us that he would vote "NO" if there were no restrictions on abortion in the bill.  Well, guess what, there are NO restrictions in the bill and Congressman Carney voted "YES."
I know that people will say, "But President Obama issued an executive order."

In defense of Metropolitan Herman

It was most disappointing to read your article concerning the St. Tikhon's Investigation Report. Not only does it mention false allegations and accusations, but you failed to include the most important part of the "Report," and that is the "Conclusion."

Open Letter to Rep. Carney

Like many of your constituents, both Republican, Democrat, and Independent, I too, am appalled and opposed to a bill that has been hastily drafted, not to help the poor, as has been touted, because if that were true, it wouldn’t be designed to discriminate against the disabled, the cancer patient, the elderly, and the unborn, but appears to be an aid for the government in population control.
