One quadrillion ants
Have you noticed that many a rock, stone, or whatever is left on your yard or garden for a small length of time has a big amount of ants and their eggs under it? There seems to be a lot of them this year. Has it anything to do with the wet seasons this year?
How many ants are there on Earth? No one has actually counted them, but scientists  estimate that there are about 1,000,000,000,000,000 (that's one quadrillion.) ants on the planet.
How many ants are in an ant colony? That depends on the type of ant...and there are about 15,000 different kinds. But most ants are social insects that live in groups. Some colonies have only 10 ants and others have hundreds of thousands. Some nests are "hills," others are underground, and still others are built  from leaves or found in wood. Wherever they live, ants will usually come out if you have a picnic.
The Waymart Area Authority will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, July 13th, 7 p.m., in the Board Room at 66 Railroad Lane in Waymart.
Thought for this week: Many people drive their automobile as if they were rehearsing for an accident.
The Waymart Fire Company will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, July 13th, 7 p.m., at the Fire Hall Meeting Room, located on Carbondale Road in Waymart.
Handy Hints: Something Fishy...
* It's said that if you rub a strong magnet over your metal lures, they'll be more likely to attract fish. Worth a try.
* Some fisherman insist that the best time to go fishing is after a sickle moon (new moon) and before it becomes full again.
* Need Worms?...Spray a mixture of mustard and water on the grass. The worms should rise to the surface.
* When reeling new line onto a reel, to prevent the spool of a new line from overreeling and getting tangled, place it in a bucket of water while performing the task.
The Western Wayne Booster Club will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 15th, 7 p.m., in the Western Wayne High School cafeteria.

This week’s joke:
An efficiency expert concluded his lecture with the warning:
"Don't try these techniques at home."
"Why not?" asked a member of the audience.
"I watched my wife's routine at breakfast for twenty-two years," he explained. "She  made up to ten trips between the refrigerator, the stove, the toaster and the table, almost always carrying just a single item at a time. One day I told her:
"You're wasting too much time. Why don't you try carrying several things at once?"
"And did it save time?" asked the man in the audience.
"Yes it did," replied the expert. "It used to take her twenty minutes to make breakfast. Now I do it in ten."
Keep smiling.
Don't forget to register for the Vacation Bible School at St. Mary's Church in Waymart. It will be held starting this Monday, July 13th to Saturday, July 18th from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The Church is located on Carbondale Road.
This week’s question:
What's the difference between a white egg and a brown egg?
Answer: It's in the chicken. Some breeds of chickens lay white eggs and some brown. The eggs fry, scramble, boil, and taste the same.
Vacation Bible School will be held at the Aldenville Church on Monday, July 20th to Friday, July 24th from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
