WAYMART -

We have a lot of Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies at the flowers in our French Lilac Bush. These Butterflies are the largest in the United States. In some areas they have a wing spread of over five inches, although they are smaller here.
They undergo a complete metamorphosis through the four stages of egg, larva, pupa, and imago or perfect insect. The eggs of butterflies are laid either singly or in groups on a food-plant, and when mature they produce the larvae or caterpillars, which begin at once to feed on the leaves of the plant. When the perfect insect emerges from the chrysalis (The pupa- which is enclosed in a firm case), its wings are small; and in order to allow them to grow and harden it rests for some hours with the wings hanging downwards. Butterflies are usually diurnal (Active during the daytime) in their flight.
Butterflies are found all over the world. They have protective coloring, and some  butterflies change their coloring according to the temperature and humidity. Its so nice to watch nature in motion. So get outside, and turn off the television. There's not much worth watching on it anyway, but that's another subject.
The Clinton Township Planning Commission will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 24th at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building in Aldenville.
Thought for this week: Man blames most accidents on fate, but feels a more personal responsibilty when he makes a hole- in-one on the golf course.
Mark your calendar on Wednesday, August 13th at 7 p.m. as the Bethany Historical Society will sponsor the 6th Annual Music Mix On The Green. As in the past, the performance will be held in the Band Shell at the park. Arrive before dusk with your lawn chair and depart under the twinkling stars. Last year's Music Mix on the Green brought together a mix of audiences as well as a mix of music. About a hundred and fifty people seated themselves around the cherry trees on the lawn in Bethany Park.

Handy hint: Cat Tales!
Cats love scratching sounds. Crumple a piece of aluminum foil into a ball and let your kitten bat it around on a hard floor.
Or suspend a Ping-Pong ball on a piece of string from an
empty shelf. Cats love to jump up and hit things, and the ball
can't roll under the furniture.
A good way to train your cat is to keep handy a squirt gun filled with water. A few good shots and he'll get the message.
If you want cheaper cat-litter liners, buy a box of ten plastic lawn bags which makes forty litter-pan liners. Cut each bag into four large rectangular pieces.
Did you know that many cats and dogs go berserk when they hear a violin solo?
It's almost summer already. The first full day is Saturday, June 21st. Summer is the season of the year when the sun shines most directly on any region. North of the equator it is commonly taken to include the months of June, July, and August. July is usually the hottest in the year, for though the maximum of heat is obtained on June 21st, the longest day, the amount received for many subsequent days is greater than that lost by radiation, and the temperature continues to increase. So don't be a couch potato. Get out and enjoy the nice warm weather, as summer seems to go so fast!
Joke for this week:
A keen gardener liked to show off his floral display to his grown-up son, but was disappointed with the results one summer. "It's those darn free range chickens from next door," he moaned. "They're always coming through the hedge and pecking my flowers. I've tried everything, but I don't know how to stop them."
When the son next came to visit a month later, he was immediately struck by how much healthier the flowerbed looked. It had beautiful color.
"It looks like you've solved the problem with your neighbor's chickens. How have you managed to keep them off?
"Well," replied the father, "it was easy in the end. One night I hid half a dozen eggs under a bush in the flowerbed, and the next morning I made sure that my neighbor saw me picking them up. Since then I haven't been troubled by his chickens!"
Keep Smiling!
No Child Hungry!
There will be a Summer "Brunch" Program at the Open Door Cafe, located on the lower level of the Methodist Church in Waymart. Brunch will be offered every week day (Monday through Friday) for the months of July and August from 10 to 11 a.m. at no cost to families. One in six children are at risk of hunger in America especially during the summer months when school breakfast and lunches are not available. One part love. One part family. One part fun and a touch of community, is all it takes to end childhood hunger in the greater Waymart Area. For more information or volunteer opportunities call Kathy Little at (570)488-6065 or write to the Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box J, 151 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472 or call (570)488-6885.
Remember: For every minute you"re angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.
Have a nice week!
