If you haven’t gotten one of the books completed by Paul O’Hara of Pleasant Mount, named “People and Places of Mount Pleasant Township, Wayne County, Pa.” You are missing out on a lot of interesting facts and history. You can obtain a copy by calling Paul at 448-2343. If no answer, leave a message.
Pirogue making (one time) for the fall will be on November, 3 - 4 - 5th. The first is potato peeling and the 4th & 5th is the prerogi making. If you have some time and want something to do, come out to St. James Center and join the men & ladies. We serve a good luncheon and have a lot of fun, even though there is a lot of work to be done. In the past we have had people from Waymart, White Mills, Starlight, Orson and other areas coming out and joining us. It is a great community project and helps our church with its finances.
A fall vendors fund raiser will be held November 1st from Noon until 4 p.m. in St. James Center. Vendors exhibiting their wares will be the “Pampered Chef”, “Party Lite”, “Tastefully Simple”, “Selina’s Giving Tree” and “() Jewelry”. Why not come out and get some ideas for Xmas and maybe but a few gifts for your friends & relatives. Xmas is just around the corner.
Many people came out and supported the Dinner-Dance held for the Jubinsky family on Saturday, October 10th and a good time was had by all. Thank you all for your support.
Orson United Methodist Church trustees would like to thank all the people who came out to work, sent baked goods and supported their ham dinner on October 10th. It was very successful. No one went away hungry.
Flu clinics to be held this week are: Oct. 28, Wednesday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., Pike County Medical Center and Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ladore Lodge, Waymart, Pa.
What do you think of this early winter? Too early for me, but you can’t rule Mother Nature. They say in the upper fifties by next weekend. It’s only 5 p.m. on Thursday , so hope it doesn’t snow too much with many leaves on the trees we could lose more power. At my house the lawn is white and it’s snowing heavily at this time.
