Do you know anyone who has done everything right all their lives? All their choices and decisions have been the right ones, and their lives are successful, prosperous, fulfilling and extremely happy.
Probably not. Everyone messes up at one time or another in their lives - some people more than others. We do make wrong decisions that lead us down paths we wished we'd never traveled.
Some never recover from the choices they've made. They just accept this as their lot in life, and their lives are filled with misery and bondage. They are trapped and bitter, yet are hopeless to think that anything could ever change for them.
But God is the God of second chances - and third, fourth, fifth… It may feel like the path we've ended up on is a dead-end road, but there is a God of resurrection power. The same God who raised Christ from the dead is still at work today to bring new life when we've reached a dead-end.
I know this because I've been there a few times in my life. After six years in a stormy marriage, we hit a dead-end and divorced. But after another six years of being divorced and sufficiently messing up our lives, God's resurrection power hit our lives, and raised our relationship from the dead. He put my ex-husband and I back together, we were remarried and our family was restored. It's now been another 22 years in a marriage that became a right choice because God is now a part of it.
When God's resurrection power hits a relationship that was dead, there can be healing and restoration, because He is the God of second chances. Marriages are restored. Parent-child relationships are restored. Friendships and family relations that have hit dead-ends are restored.
We do not have to accept the lie that this is the end - there is no hope. When we cry out to the God of second chances for His resurrection power to bring new life, He will answer and do the impossible. All things are possible with God.
This principle can apply to any area of life. We do not have to remain in bondage when we've made wrong decisions that lead to dead-end roads. There is always hope for change, healing, restoration and new life when we ask God to enter into the situation.
He is always watching, always listening for that cry for help that gives Him permission to intervene in our lives. He's ready and waiting for us to get sick and tired enough of our dead-end lives to turn to Him and ask for help.
