I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the organizers and volunteers who made this year's Honesdale Roots and Rhythm festival another success. As your mayor I cannot overstate how proud I am to represent and share this community with all of you. One group in particular that I want to mention is the NEPA Young Marines; these proud young folks did a great job and I want to extend sincere appreciation to them and Vicki Fritsch who heads up this chapter. Keep up the good work. Insummation, the superb music and positive energy that circulated through our Central Park made for a truly wonderful day. I'm already looking forward to next year.
In light of a recent report, congratulations go out to the Wayne Highlands School District who, once again, scored at the top amongst schools here in Northeast Pennsylvania. Accolades go out to our School Board, the Administrators, the Teachers, the Support Staff, the Students and the Parents. This is yet another example of the strengths and benefits that we are blessed with in our area.
In lieu of the Monthly Eyesore property highlight, I will take some column space to remind some folks to please use common sense when traveling through our town. As you all know the "Bridge Project" complicates travel through our town. I will again mention that this is a short term sacrifice that will provide a long term benefit. So please folks Do Not Clog Intersections and if you care to go one step further please extend some courtesy to those trying to turn left. Really what it all comes down to is Common Sense, Courtesy, and Patience.
We're all in this together. On the bright side, the project is ahead of schedule. Staying on topic, I wish to extend some concern and care to those who are placed at or near "ground zero" of this bridge project. First off, thanks for putting up with the most disconcerting of inconveniences and secondly, I hope that the end product produces results that leave us all thankful and cognizant of the necessity to improve travel about in our town.- Jonathan Fritz, mayor, Honesdale, Pa.
