Ethel (Sonn) Zelonis, of Sharon Avenue, Torrington, Connecticut, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John P. Zelonis.

Born June 29, 1920, in Honesdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ida (Horst) Sonn.  She had been a resident of Torrington since 1940.

She was a graduate of Honesdale High School. She was a retiree of The Torrington Company, where she had worked for 36 years. She was a charter member and past president of the Columbiettes, a member of the St. Francis Women's Club and the Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and William Beauchaine of Torrington; two granddaughters, Bridget A. Beauchaine and Jacqueline Beauchaine Cswerko and husband Raymond Cswerko; two great-grandsons,   Raymond and William Cswerko, all of Torrington; a sister, Eleanor Welsh of Honesdale, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen, and a son, John Jr.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. from The LaPorta-Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, Conn. to St. Francis Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, Conn. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:15 p.m.
Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery. Calling hours were held on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, from 3 to 5 p.m. at The LaPorta-Cook Funeral Home.
