Greene Dreher volunteer fire association annual picnic and parade

Greene Dreher Volunteer Fire Association will host its annual picnic and parade on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd in
the picnic grove behind the firehouse on Crestmont Drive in Newfoundland.

The picnic opens Friday at 5pm and Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. All are invited to join us for great food, live music nightly, beverages and games.

Friends may call on the family on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Strauch Funeral Home at 602 Birch Street in  Scranton. The funeral service will be Monday morning, October 25 at 10 a.m. at St Luke’s Episcopal Church at 232 Wyoming Ave in Scranton with internment immediately following at Fairview Cemetery. 
 

Woman reported missing at Lake Wallenpaupack

Pa. State Police, Blooming Grove, issued a missing person report late Monday afternoon concerning a  woman that wandered off a boat beached at Lake Wallenpaupack.

Trust fund established for Bond family

A trust fund for the family of Pastor Jim Bond has been set up at the Honesdale National Bank.
 

Bond died Tuesday of Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. He is survived by his wife, Merrily, and three children ages 5, 14 and 18.

ALERT: I-84 is CLOSED

Interstate 84 EASTBOUND & WESTBOUND has been CLOSED from the New York State Border due to a gas line explosion at Mile 46 Matamoras Exit.
Motorists are being detoured onto Route 6 but preparations are being made to detour them at Exit 53 (Matamoras) through to Exit 34 (Lords Valley/Dingmans Ferry) and Route 739.
