Waymart, Pa. -

A Waymart man faces several charges for allegedly yelling obscenities at a borough resident while shooting a BB gun at his cat and home.
On a routine patrol last Saturday, Waymart police noticed two males, at first glance, shooting what appeared to be a firearm at a road sign near Gravity Planes Apartments. The males were then seen entering an apartment at the public housing complex.
Police arrived and questioned one of the suspects in the kitchen; he was identified as Jarome Orr, a 20-year old resident of the housing complex.
Police asked if he was shooting a firearm. Orr allegedly stated that he was shooting a BB gun at a street sign and that he tossed the BB gun into some “vegetation” outside the apartment door prior to entering, according to court papers.
While Waymart Police Chief Nicole Brandt was speaking to Orr, a borough patrolman interviewed one resident that lived near the apartment complex.
The resident stated that Orr was shooting BBs at his cat, house, and that he additionally kicked the cat across the road, according to court papers.
The 20-year old also yelled obscene words at the resident, police said. Orr, who was reportedly with three other males, then left the scene after these incidents.
Upon his arrest, Orr allegedly admitted to having “five beers throughout the night” after police asked why they smelled alcohol on his breath.
Orr has been charged with recklessly endangering another person, cruelty to animals, loitering and prowling at night, an underage alcohol offense, and harassment.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for November 4.
