Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. customers in the Honesdale Borough are under a boil water advisory following a water main break on 7th Street in Honesdale, Saturday.
Customers should boil their drinking water until notified by a notice lifting the boil. “Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boil or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water,” a spokesperson said.
“As a precaution, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regulations require that acceptable bacteria sample results be obtained from sets of samples collected on two consecutive days before the boil water notice can be lifted,” the notice explains.
