Honesdale, Pa. -

HONESDALE - Jeffrey Flederbach, of Honesdale, shuffled to his place before the honorable Judge Hamill Thursday morning, and with a reticent and withdrawn countenance.  The 46 year-old who has a pacemaker and is on 15 different medications, three of them for Bipolar depression and an anxiety disorder, was sentenced today for his December 12th, 2007 simple assualt on an EMT who was attempting to restrain Flederbach.

While he has no recollection of the event, he does recall that he was heavily under the influence of alcohol when the altercation occured.

He admits that he has an alcohol problem, and following the outcome of the sentence, wants to better his condition, according to his attorney Scott Bennett.
Attorney Bennett stated that his client is remorseful and willing to comply with the consequences, of which he is fearful.

He was sentenced to 18 months probation, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and ordered to pay the prosecution costs.

Simliarly, Edward Brian Sloneker, formerly of Greene County, who is presently serving three to six years at Waymart State Correctional Institute for a parole violation on an aggravated assault conviction, was sentenced for six months to two years for his simple assault on a corrections officer in the facility on September 30th of 2007.

According to the affidavit, Sloneker was on cell restriction at the time and, after placing his belongings in his record box told the corrections officer, “I’m leaving,” among other choice words.  After being ordered back to his cell twice, Sloneker “began punching and kicking” the officer, striking him in the groin with his knee.

Sloneker, who suffers from Huntington’s Disease, a degenerative neurological disease that often times causes delusions in its later stages, admitted that he was not delusional when the altercation took place and takes responsibility for his actions.
Following his extended sentence he will also receive six months of probation, random drug tests and property searches, and will be ordered to pay the prosecution costs.
