Work continues on a natural gas well in Oregon Township on Thursday, off Fox Hill Road. It appears that Ziegenfuss Drilling, of New Jersey, is casing the well point with reinforced steel. Chesapeake Appalachia, of West Virginia, received a drilling permit for this site from the state Department of Environmental Protection in February. Reports indicate the company will target the Oriskany formation - not the Marcellus Shale - which does not require approval from the Delaware River Basin Commission, since it will not be horizontally fractured.
