There will be a MOPS Open House at Honesdale Gospel Tabernacle, 455 Grove St. Honesdale, November 9th from 10 a.m. till 12 p.m.
All moms with pre-school age children are welcome to come and see what MOPS can offer you and your child. Regular monthly meetings will begin on December 14th and be held on the 2nd Monday of each month, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. During MOPS meetings, children are lovingly cared for by competent volunteers under their own MOPPETS Program.
Since 1973, MOPS International, a non-profit organization, has helped create communities and resources to help make "better moms who make a better world." A MOPS group is a place where moms can come—just as they are—to build friendships, receive mothering support, practical help and spiritual hope.
Through training and development customized to women in this stage of life, and' through do-able service opportunities, MOPS is growing moms to make a better world.
How does MOPS help make better moms that make a better world?
MOPS International serves more than 100,000 mothers of preschoolers from all walks of life, in over 4,000 groups world wide. The non-profit organization exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers to realize her potential as a woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ.
MOPS volunteer Coordinator, Keri McLaughlin, feels her time invested in strengthening moms is worth every minute: "Our group reaches out to moms across the street as well as across the county line. Our local MOPS group provides authentic community and ways for moms to make friends and grow in parenting skills. In a MOPS group, we see moms get the support they need to be better moms and that makes a huge impact on their families, communities and the way they reach out to make a difference in the world."
In addition to groups, MOPS International provides relevant mom-tested resources, including MomSense magazine - a premier benefit of the MOPS International Membership - and also through the MOPS web site (www.MOPS.org) and books written specifically for moms.
Although mothering preschoolers is at times a lonely challenge, MOPS is providing a welcome break for moms; a chance for moms to make new friends and an opportunity for moms to know they are not alone in the struggles and joys of raising young children.
