Dairy/Ag Day expands coverage

The “32nd Annual Dairy Day/Ag.Day” has a new look. It is now the “32nd Annual Wayne County (Pa.)/Sullivan County (N.Y.) Dairy Day/Ag.Day.” This year’s event is scheduled for Monday, February 15th, from about 10 a..m to 3 p.m., at  Honesdale High School, Terrace Street.
This year’s event will feature the normal, timely dairy industry- related information and new technology to area dairy farm families. In addition, different livestock, forestry, agronomic, vegetable, general agriculture and agriculture information groups, associations and research will be highlighted at Dairy Day/Ag. Day. Also, agribusinesses serving Wayne County (Pa.) and Sullivan County (N.Y.) will have exhibits and will also offer important and timely information to all who attend this mid-winter event.
Dairy Day/Ag.Day will once again feature the popular “Ask The Experts” forum where attendees can converse and gather information from participants in a one-on-one format.

Scheduled to participate in this part of the “Dairy Day/Ag.Day” are: “Water Testing and Private Wells”, Pat Mohn, Master Well Educator, Wayne County Cooperative Extension, “Landowner and Forestry Issues”, Chris Tcimpedis, Consulting Forester, Livingston Manor, New York, “Beginning Maple Syrup Production”, Peggy Simons, Maple Syrup Producer and President, Northeastern Pennsylvania Maple Syrup Producer’s Association, “Grazing Dairy Cattle and Other Livestock”, Patricia (Trish) A. Westenbroek, Dairy, Livestock and Agronomy Educator, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Sullivan County, Liberty, New York, “On Demand Energy Resources”, Donna LaBar, Executive Director, Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, Honesdale, Pa., “Agronomic Topics For Your 2010 Cropping Season” and “Marcellus Shale/Natural Gas Updates and Information”, Extension Educator- Agronomy and Marcellus Shale/Natural Gas – Extension Educator, Wayne County Cooperative Extension, “4-H – Show What You Know!!”, Kim C. Mikulak, 4-H Coordinator/Extension Educator, Wayne County Cooperative Extension and “Milk Market Moos”, Sherry Bunting, Editor and Contributor, “Farmshine”, Dairy Industry Newspaper, Brownstown, Pa. The “Wayne County (Pa.) and Sullivan County (N.Y.) Dairy Promotion Committees” will have their promotional materials and educational displays available for all to observe and enjoy.
Also, some health testing and screenings for farm workers and their families, will be offered by the

Wayne County Memorial Hospital – “Community Health Center”, “Home Health and Hospice Care”, “Parent –to- Parent”, “Nutrition and Health Screenings” and “Durable Health Equipment”. In addition, the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health (NYCAMH), will be on hand to offer information to prevent and treat occupational injury and illness.
Stop by the dairy, meat bar
The popular milk, ice cream, cheese and specialty meats bar will be set-up near the exhibit area courtesy of area dairy producers, dairies, ice cream manufacturers, meat processors and the “Dairy Day/Ag. Day” exhibitors, participants and supporters.
Door prizes, supported by the “2010 Wayne County (Pa.)/Sullivan County (N.Y.) Dairy Day/Ag. Day” Planning Committee and exhibitors, supporters and participants, will be awarded throughout the day.
A buffet lunch, prepared by “The Red Schoolhouse” staff, will be served to all dairy and agricultural farm families courtesy of the “2010 Wayne County (Pa.)/Sullivan County (N.Y.) Dairy Day/Ag.Day” exhibitors, participants and supporters. All lunch reservations are needed by Thursday, February 11th.
