The Honesdale Borough Police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle that occurred on North Main Street on May 5. According to the police, the vehicle was parked on the 1500 block of North Main from 6:15 p.m. until 6:25 p.m. when it was reported missing.
Officers sent a regional broadcast for the vehicle and it was recovered at a property in Carbondale Township, Lackawanna County at 6:45 p.m. The suspect is described as a white male, 18-20 years old, 5’10”, 160 lbs, with braided hair. The suspect was reportedly wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, dark rimmed glasses and had a bandage or tape on one hand.

Hit fire hydrant twice
On May 4, The Honesdale Borough Police arrested a man, 69 from Honesdale for suspicion of DUI after an accident on Main Street. According to police, witnesses observed the man allegedly strike a fire hydrant at 11th & Main streets twice, knocking the hydrant over. The driver then drove away from the scene without contacting authorities.
Thanks to information from witnesses, the driver was located at his residence on Court Street shortly after the crash. The Honesdale Borough Police would like to thank the witnesses who assisted in the incident. The man will be charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and further charges are pending results of the blood test.

On May 5, The Honesdale Borough Police recovered a BMX style bicycle from the Lackawaxen River, near Park Street. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police at 253-1900.
